Free carseat check

I posted before about how we attended a free carseat check hosted by the Alameda police and that it was scary how unsafely we had ours installed (even though we had read the manual). I had mostly gone because there was a rumor you would get free passes to Habitot (true!). I am so very glad we went. No joke, we really had a lot to learn about carseat safety. There is another one of these events coming up. Check out the info below:

Why have your car seat inspected?

Research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows
that as many as 80% of all car seats are improperly installed. It’s a significant
factor in why automobile accidents are the number-one killer of children under 14.

The great difficulty in installing car seats has always been the limitless variety
among car seats, vehicle seats and seat belt design. Getting a good fit between
car seat and vehicle almost always requires a trained technician who can deal with
the literally thousands of combinations.
